Turning Point?
After the Treaty of Versailles, Germany wanted to reclaim the land lost during World War I. Hitler's obejective was to connect all the German-speaking countries into his utopia. The Treaty of Versailles reduced Germany's boundaries causing the countries that were orignally Germany to be almost scattered. This also gave Poland some of Germany's territory. Germany and Poland historically were rivals since Poland gained some of Germany's territory and there were still german citizens living in Poland. This is why Adolf Hitler made such a bold move. He wanted to retake what belonged to Germany before the Treaty of Versailles. On September 1st, 0445 hrs, Germany invaded Poland. This was a huge milestone in world history as Germany began to reclaim their dominance after their defeat in World War I. Adolf Hitler stated in his Proclamation, "In order to put an end to this lunacy, I have no other choice than to meet force with force from now on. The German Army will fight the battle for the honour and the vital rights of reborn Germany with hard determination". He gave this short speech the day of the invasion to motivate the German people and to reinforce the position for Germany as a world power.
