The Treaty of Versailles
The Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28th, 1919 at the conclusion of World War I. This treaty reduced the size of Germany by taking countries that were taken by force by Germany. Germany was also responsible for paying reparations to countries they had waged war against. And lastly, Germany would be disarmed and was not allowed to create a large powerful army. The allies feared if they allowed Germany to keep its military capability they would continue to threaten the region. This treaty was designed to prevent war and weaken Germany as a country.
